It was a fab walk -a few comments below- wish I was just starting out again- so delightful and has great long term effects on keeping mindful and present……….
We first heard about Walk 91 from friends who completed a couple of years ago. The accommodation – they were all great-Ecolodge was really interesting, great hospitality, enjoyable other guests. We especially enjoyed meeting Sue, great cook (really the best food out of all 3 places-the breakfasts were perfect and her dinners sensational!) and lovely person. Likewise we enjoyed our other B&B and the glowworms were terrific too …and the roadhouse lots of fun. It was easy to find the meeting spots each day.
The Great Ocean Walk …is a wonderful combination of bush and beach with some challenge- the mud!!- and some rock climbing on the beach- it’s such a stunning part of coast, saw so many birds and animals-seeing koalas in wild and an echidna was special. Would have liked to have learnt more about Aboriginal culture -there’s only the same repetitive Parks Victoria boards, with same general culture described-there must be more specifically known local stories.
Our tips are to be clear about giving yourself enough time so you don’t feel rushed.
Although a number of people suggested poles, we didn’t feel we needed them. It was great to have that introductory talk with you mark-it all did make sense as we walked!!
